An archive of material from Donna Darlene, the female half of Don and Darlene (AKA Don and Darling or Don and Darline) a Vaudeville Adagio dance team (Adagio: partner acrobalance movements - considered a circus skill). Includes eighty photographs, scrapbook, two autograph books, and small suitcase. The materials in the collection date from 1928-1931. Lot includes: Photographs. Eighty high quality vintage studio prints from the period. Most are 8 by 10 publicity stills, 3/4s of them signed or inscribed. Many photographs have information about the performers on the verso. Several photographs are of Darlene, including wedding images, two hand-tinted images of Don and Darlene dancing on the beach. Performers pictured include a magician, ventriloquist, actors, musicians and others. Scrapbook. The book contents include ads, clippings, and a variety of their performance programs mainly from California, Oregon, and Washington. Payment receipts from the Golden Gate Theatre in San Francisco and others, and original photographs of Donna dancing. The Act appeared with Pretty Baby Company, known as Pretty Babies, a musical show starring Viola Spaeth. Two autograph books. Signed by nearly 200 vaudeville dancers and artists.
