Black and white photograph of Marilyn Monroe standing in the surf in a sweater and capris by Andre de Dienes. Handwritten 51 in pen in top right corner of photograph. November, 1945. This photograph was her first magazine cover in 1946 when she was an unknown model and still Norma Jean Dougherty. Mr. Dienes took her on an extended photo exhibition during these years to parts of California, Las Vegas, Portland, Oregon (to be reunited with her mother), the Mojave Desert, and Yosemite. Signed “Dienes” in lower right hand of photograph. Verso displays credit stamps from Mr. Dienes office in Hollywood. 13 ¾ by 10 ½ inches Categories: Marilyn Monroe
