A three-piece military stage costume with famed Folies Bergere costume designer Max Weldy Paris studio tag, circa 1930. Aside from the Folies Bergere, Weldy designed costumes for Broadway productions, films, and stage productions around the world. He is credited with discovering Erte, who went on to design some of Folies Bergere’s most memorable costumes. In 1939, Weldy left Paris and began working for Ringling Bros. circus. Costume is comprised of a navy blue velvet military style coat with gold acanthus trim, a pair of ivory pants, and a bicorne hat with ostrich feathers and gold trim. Categories:
