“Listen to Me” Buddy Holly J-45 acoustic guitar with hand-tooled leather case and guitar strap and customized carrying case. The Listen To Me Guitar, case, and strap, exact replicas of the famed Gibson J-45 used by Buddy Holly, were handcrafted by skilled master artisans to commemorate Buddy Holly’s 75th birthday and his classic song of the same name. Both a work of art and a superb musical instrument, this guitar will be sold to benefit the next generation of music’s greats through the scholarship programs of the GRAMMY® Foundation’s GRAMMY Camps. A team of world-renowned luthiers and leather artisans have combined their skills to create a special and singular instrument that captures Holly’s sound and spirit. This is the only Holly guitar made available to the public; a limited number of these replicas have been awarded on long-term "legacy loan" to rock guitar luminaries and remain the property of The Buddy Holly Guitar Foundation. Through Songmasters’ Listen to Me project, this is the only Holly guitar to be owned outright by a discerning guitar aficionado. The Listen To Me guitar was hand built by acclaimed luthier Alister Atkin. It bears Atkin's signature plaque, numbered 471/1111 (Atkin's 471st guitar, completed in November 2011). The guitar features a spruce top; mahogany neck, back and sides; pre-war scalloped bracing; ebony binding, fingerboard dots, bridge, and peg head overlay; bone nut and drop-in saddle; Sunburst lacquer finish; and electric pickup.
