The Vulcan lute first appeared on "Star Trek The Original Series" in the episode "Charlie X. " The lute made appearances in three subsequent original series episodes as well as in one of the "Mirror Universe" episodes of "Deep Space Nine" and in the fifth "Star Trek" film. The original lute was sculpted by Wah Chang in 1966.
