A period frock coat worn by Kirk Douglas as Peter Niles in Mourning Becomes Electra (RKO, 1947). The nutmeg brown wool frock coat has a four-button closure, notch lapel, flap pockets, two-button cuff, single vent and two-button cuff detail. An internal Western Costume Co. label is inscribed "No: 1046-1-1 #5 Name: K. Douglas Chest 43." Buttons have been replaced for use in a subsequent production. The coat was worn when Michael Redgrave as Orin Mannon shoots himself. Costume design by Gile Steele. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Categories: Kirk Douglas
