A signature “Suit of Lights” matador outfit designed by Travis Banton for Rudolph Valentino as Juan Gallardo in Blood and Sand (Paramount, 1922). The silk matador costume consists of a jacket and pants decorated with intricate silver bullion, red faceted stones, sequins and beaded silver tone boulion fringe. The jacket has “PARAMOUNT WARDROBE - 11” stamped in black ink and “M3168” inscribed in fountain pen. Pants have “PARAMOUNT WARDROBE” stamped twice, “11” stamped, and “M3168” inscribed in fountain pen. Costume design by Travis Banton. Acquired directly from the Paramount Studios wardrobe department.
