A blue taffeta period gown worn by Shelley Winters as Frenchie Fontaine in the film Frenchie (UniversalInternational, 1950). The long-sleeve gown of watermarked taffeta period dress has rose satin piping and buttons down the bodice and lace-up corset closure, with an ivory skirt that has tool overlay gathered with taffeta stripes, accented with yellow and pink roses, a gathered apron, and large bow to the back. An internal Universal International label is inscribed “Shelley Winters.” The gown was worn at the cemetery with Joel McCrea as Sheriff Tom Banning and at the spot where her father was killed. Also shown as one of the dresses Winters buys on her honeymoon in Untamed Frontier (Universal, 1952). Post-production alterations are present. Costume design by Yvonne Wood.
