Italy, c. 1895 inlaid wood, parchment, copper 27½ w x 27½ d x 28 h in (70 x 70 x 71 cm)
This exquisite table features a metal inlay on the top and sides created by first carving the design then filling it with molten metal. The decoration appears to be an amalgamation of Japanese and Arabic script along with floral and animal motifs. Moorish architecture informs several other details in the table, particularly on the apron.
