Butler ranks among Britain's most famous 20th Century sculptors.
This is one of two smaller studies for "Girl with Vest" (1953), which is in the collection of the Brooklyn Museum. This piece was exhibited in the Butler Retrospective at the JB Speed Museum in 1963, catalogue number 51. The original correspondence between the owner and the Director of the Speed Museum accompanies this lot as does the catalogue from the Butler exhibition. more
