USA, c. 1943 silver 3 w in (8 cm)
Beginning in 1943, Bertoia began creating jewelry in silver and brass. The jewelry designs mark Bertoia's first use of metal as an artistic medium. The form and texture of these early pieces point directly to themes that would be developed in his later sculptures. Bertoia's jewelry was shown at the Nierendorf Gallery, New York between 1943 and 1947.
