Richard De Vore has characterized his forms as relating to geology, landscape, and the human body. The rims of his pots overlap when viewed frontally, and resemble rolling landscapes with plateaus and valleys. Qualities of the human body are expressed in the form of his pots, and a great deal of care is used in creating a surface that resembles the color and texture of human skin. De Vore aligns himself with the anonymity of potters in ancient civilizations, and therefore never signs his work.
