American, circa 1920. American Brilliant Cut Glass handled nappy manufactured by Libbey in the Wistaria design. Prior to the discovery of its true name, it was assigned the name "Love Birds." On page 293 in Carl Fauster's book 'Libbey Glass Since 1818' the text describes the Wistaria design as "a combination of polished rock crystal effect vine and leaf work with copper wheel engraved birds and sprays of Wistaria blooms. The cockatoo, or love bird, ornament follows a timely decorative tendency for birds." (The spelling of the design name is for a vine named after an American anatomist named Caspar Wistar). Acid etched signature to the interior. Height 2.5", width 7.5"._x000D_
