This pair of important cabinets by Eliel Saarinen was created specifically fo the 1929 exhibition "The Architectural and the Industrial Arts" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
The exhibition focused on American design and craftsmanship of the time. The inlaid surfaces exemplify the decorative tendencies of the period while the overall form displays Modernist lines.
