Airline Chair Company USA, 1934 birch, naugahyde, leather, steel 25 w x 32 d x 29¾ h in (63 x 81 x 76 cm)
300 Airline chairs were produced for the Walt Disney Company’s movie projection room.
Although prized by critics, the chair was never put into production. With its bent plywood seat, cantilever structure and dramatic streamline style, the Airline armchair is one of the most important seating designs of the decade. literature: American Modern 1925-1940: Design for a New Age, Johnson, ppg. 139, 175
