Hugh Scott-Douglas b. 1988

Untitled
c. 2011 cyanotype on linen mounted to canvas 16 h x 12 w in (41 x 30 cm)
result: $5,000

This work is one of the first examples of Hugh Scott-Douglas' very successful foray into cyanotypes. To create the present lot, the artist generated patterns from scans onto clear acetate of existing textiles, which he then loosely placed on photosensitive linen and canvas. Often working outdoors, Scott-Douglas allowed the uncontrollable atmospheric effects, such as the passing clouds or the wind lifting the acetate from the work’s surface, to become variables in the production of the final image.
This work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Clint Roenisch Gallery.
