American, mid to late19th century. Bliss & Creighton, New York, No. 738 (circa 1860). Chronometer with winding key and in a green felt fabric lined lidded mahogany wood box. Chronometer face with Roman numerals, Up-Down indicator, seconds dial with Arabic numerals. Note: The firm of Bliss and Creighton was formed in 1837 as watchmakers, by 1842 they were manufacturing chronometers. Wooden case approximately 9" x 9.5" square.
