Four framed Henry Alken illustrations to popular songs. Alken illustrations and separate prints are lively and colorful and are closer to the 18th century caricature than to the 18th century sporting print. Alken’s popular songs explore the comic side of human nature in a series of prints depicting the follies and foibles of English society. All marked to bottom left corner with some variation of "Hen. Alken Del." and marked to bottom middle with some variation of "London, Published by Thomas Mclean Repository of Wit & Humour, 26, Haymarket, 1822". Each print measures approximately 11-1/4" x 13-1/2" with wooden frame and has a sight image of approximately 9" x 11"; all in Good condition with age appropriate wear.
