Antique sliding brass fireplace trivet with solid rosewood handle and hearts motif; English, circa 1860; this trivet was made to rest on the front of a fireplace fender and designed so that one could slide a cooking pot either closer to or farther from the fire, allowing for more or less heat; measures approximately 6-3/4" tall, 13-1/4" long when not extended, 19" long extended, and 7-1/2" wide; in Very Good condition.
