Commando Screen. New Haven, Petrie & Lewis, ca. 1935. Small metal tri-fold screen is shown on both sides and formed into a triangular tube. The magician reaches inside and produces a quantity of silk handkerchiefs. Panels measure 3 x 7”. Wear to paint, otherwise good condition. The method behind this effect was devised by Ed Massey, who also devised tricks for Thurston, as well as for his own product line. The finicky metal apparatus was manufactured by Petrie & Lewis and sold by Max Holden and other magic dealers.
