Board edges gilt, turn-ins with gilt dentelle roll. All edges gilt. Marbled endsheets. 12mo. 1 leaf, 2 – 100, + 3 leaves. Very good. Rare. The first section in this book of miscellany – Anecdotes – contains the account of a learned spaniel exhibited at York, and of Doctor Mantaccini, a “French Quack” who claimed to perform resurrections. Other chapters include Antiquities, Arithmetic, Biographical Notes (containing a report on the Paisley Witches), Magic Squares, and Genealogical Paradoxes. Compiled anonymously, and “Published by the Editor of the Paisley Repository… author of History of the Witches of Renfrewshire.”
