Herrmann, Alexander. Herrmann’s Theatre Program. For the 1892 – 93 season, the only year in which Herrmann owned and operated his New York theatre. Engraved portrait of Herrmann inside. Backed with old cloth tape, rear wrapper significantly chipped. Inscribed and signed on the front wrapper, “Presented to Thomas C. Worthington 3rd June 7/31 Howard Thurston.” Rare. Herrmann built his own Theatre at Broadway & 29th Street in Manhattan, but its opening was delayed when the building was destroyed by fire. After it finally opened –the first of a chain Herrmann planned to own and manage – it quickly proved to be more than he could afford. Eventually it came to be known as the Gaiety Theatre.
