1863 The Storming of Fort Wagner. Civil War Lithograph. Chicago: Kurz and Allison, 1890. Original chromolithographed print (22 x 28”) of the Storming of Fort Wagner, July 18, 1863. The 54th Massachusetts colored regiment is shown storming the fort, which was defended by Confederate General Beauregard’s soldiers. This battle became contemporarily better known after the movie Glory (1989) was released, starring Matthew Broderick as the white commanding officer of the all-black regiment. Battle details imprinted at bottom. Light marginal wear and creasing, not affecting printed image. A-.
