Bamberg, David (Fu-Manchu). Sepia-toned ½ length portrait, signed and inscribed. Cesar studio, Mexico City, ca. 1940. An outstanding portrait of David Bamberg taken during his stint in the Mexican cinema industry as an actor, writer and producer. 8 x 10". Signed and inscribed "To Dai Vernon, the man who can work miracles, with all my sincere admiration, David." Vernon considered Bamberg one of magic's true artists. The two first met in New York in the 1920s, and later reconnected during Vernon's years working on cruise ships sailing to South America, where Bamberg scored his greatest artistic and financial successes. A funny, if personal story about Vernon and Bamberg's adventures together in Rio De Janeiro appeared in the May, 1949 issue of The Sphinx.
