Group of three 8vo composition books detailing the workings of tricks, designs of mechanical apparatus, and other notes related to the magic tricks performed by and built by Cardini. Notes include comments on the mechanical Rising Card packs of J.A. Petrie, how to build various reels and rising cards, and considerable analysis of the problems with and faults with John Martin-made props owned by various magicians (including a Round-Top Vanishing Birdcage, and more), as well as lists of things to buy from Martin. Many entries include detailed illustrations in Cardini’s hand. Entries range in date from 1940s – 60s.
