Houdini's Flight of Time Alarm Clock. New York, R.S. Schlosser, ca. 1924. A faux alarm clock once part of the apparatus for Houdini's trick known as The Flight of Time. In the effect, Houdini would cause six (or in some versions, eight) alarm clocks to invisibly fly from his hands to the ends of chains dangling from a board across the stage. When the clocks reappeared, their bells rang loudly. This is one of the spring-loaded reappearing clocks. Face measures 3 7/8" in diameter. The underside of the clock bears the Roman numeral "IV" in black lettering, possibly indicating that it was the fourth clock to reappear. Worn and tarnished, with hanging ring re-soldered from repeated use; overall good condition.
