Signed photograph of Ira Remsen (discovered saccharin); mounted to board that is marked to bottom right corner "Mesny Balto" signifying the photographer, Mesny, and the city, Baltimore; photograph signed to bottom right corner "Sincerely Yours, Ira Remsen"; photograph measures approximately 8-1/4" x 6-1/4"; in Good overall condition with age appropriate wear. Ira Remsen (February 10, 1846-March 4, 1927) was a chemist who, along with Constantin Fahlberg, discovered the artificial sweetener saccharin. He was the second president of Johns Hopkins University.
