Italian, 18th century. Italian Baroque style walnut carved rectangular cassone, dowry, marriage or blanket chest with iron hinged, single board molded top enclosing interior with upper till or candle box. The exterior front having heavily carved with two guilloche borders enclosing alternating panels carved with grape clusters and flowers, the stiles carved with vinery suspending grape clusters united by scrolling carved and beaded apron. Approximate height 25.4", width 51", depth 21.12".
