James Hardy II (English, 1832-1889). "Game Bird in Grass", oil on wood panel, signed lower right "J. HARDY". Serene still life painting depicting a fallen black and red game bird resting amid wildflowers on a hilltop beside the sea. Verso with Christie's stamp to tacking edge, also with "G.R. / 1876" inscribed on a fragment of canvas applied over a maker's label for mill board to center of canvas. Framed approximately 16" x 18.9". Unframed approximately 10" x 7".
