Camille Billops (American, b. 1933- ), "The KKK Boutique Ain't Just Rednecks"-1993, color etching on paper, pencil signed and dated lower right margin, limited edition noted in pencil lower left margin "28/35". Work depicting a man and woman in hats and fashionable clothes under banners with text advertising film reading "A FILM BY CAMILLE BILLOPS JAMES HATCH" and "THE KKK BOUTIQUE" above "AINT JUST REDNECKS". The work relates to a film of the same title written, produced and directed by Billops and Hatch commenting on the dynamics of racism in America. Framed approximately 26" x 19.25". Sight size approximately 18.6" x 12.5". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Benno & Babette Rothschild, Columbus, Georgia. Note: Billops is an award-winning artist, filmmaker, author, publisher and professor. She and her husband, James Hatch, co-founded the Hatch-Billops Collection in New York City, New York which contains an extensive archive of African American cultural history objects and reference materials.
