Continental, 19th century. A polychrome decorated pine commode or chest of drawers having a rectangular molded top with conforming painted scene depicting two opposing peacocks centered with flaming urn on cream ground with a brick red, pale blue and dark blue border, the case with robin's egg blue ground housing three long drawers, each having individual locking mechanisms, the faces painted in similar palette as the top and decorated with flaming urn flanked by fruit filled cornucopia, the sides decorated with urn and foliage and raised on ogee bracket feet. Approximate height 35.5", width 57.25", depth 25".
