Dinant Brass Dish, South Netherlandish 15th C.

South Netherlandish (likely Dinant), mid to late 15th century. Figural repousse brass dinanderie bowl or dish, possibly for use as as serving or water basin or alms dish, with stamped border on flared rim above tondo with seated woman amid flowering branches and textured border (at times referred to as a "seated lady winding flowers" motif). Approximate height 2.6". diameter 9.2". Provenance: From the Collection of Irwin Untermyer (1886-1973), New York, whereby acquired by the Cowan Collection, New York, whereby acquired on March 10, 1986 by A. R. Broomer, New York, and sold to the Estate of Dr. Woody Cobbs and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia in a private sale on July 22, 2004. Note: Copy of invoice available upon request.
