School of Nicolaes Berchem (Dutch, 1634-1683) Sheep and Cattle at Rest with Herders Near a Tall Bridge Signed faintly l. r., attributed to Berchem in an inscription from George Way on the back of the frame. Oil on cradled panel, 17 1/4 x 19 1/4 in. (44.0 x 48.5 cm), framed. Condition: Restored horizontal crack to panel, scattered minor abrasions, varnish inconsistencies and discoloration to sky, fine craquelure. Provenance: The estate of George Way. Estimate $600-800 Framed dimensions are 22 1/ x 24 x 1 3/8 in. Side of frame mislabeled "Bucolic Landscape, Cesar de Cock." Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
