Attributed to Daniel Mytens II (Dutch, 1644-1688) Bust-length Portrait of a Youth in a Lace Collar, Said to be Henry Stuart, Duke of Gloucester Unsigned, sitter identified on a presentation plaque on which the artist's name has been worn away but the dates "1649-1688" remain, inscribed faintly "... By Mijtens" on the stretcher. Oil on canvas, 20 3/4 x 16 1/4 in. (53.0 x 41.0 cm), framed. Condition: Lined, old repair to l.r. corner, fine craquelure, varnish discoloration. Provenance: The estate of George Way. Estimate $200-400 Framed dimensions are 27 x 23 x 1 1/2 in. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
