Pair of Jane and Gordon Martz for Marshall Studios Table Lamps, Veedersburg, Indiana, c. 1960, slip-glazed ceramic with linen shades, both with incised maker's mark, ht. 25, base dia. 6 in. Note: Jane Marshall and Gordon Martz met at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and were married in 1951. Jane Marshall Martz's family owned Marshall Studios in Veedersburg, Indiana. The couple's designs gained in popularity after showing in MoMA's landmark 1953 Good Design exhibition and enjoyed commercial success until Marshall Studios closed in 1989. Estimate $400-600 Good condition. No chips or visible repairs to the bases. Wood accents are free of scratches and cracks. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
