George Nakashima (1905-1990) "Wohl" and "Wepman" Tables, New Hope, Pennsylvania, 1960, 1961, American black walnut, taller marked "Aronson" in pencil, both with scroll lines, with copies of original order cards, ht. 20 3/4, 16 1/2, wd. 26 5/8, 25 1/2, dp. 22 1/2, 18 in. Provenance: The estate of Dr. Bernard S. Aaronson, then purchased from Skinner Auctioneers in June 2019. Dr. Aaronson was the head of the Section of Experimental Psychology, Bureau of Research in Neurology and Psychiatry, Princeton University. He was a well-known investigator in the field of consciousness expansion and purportedly participated in the CIA's MK ULTRA LSD experiments in the 1960s. Estimate $3,000-5,000 Good condition. Structurally sound. Wear consistent with age and use. Ink stains to tops of both. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
