Pavel Petrovich Sokolov-Skalua (Russian, 1899-1961) Picnic Signed, inscribed, and dated "... 1956..." in Cyrillic on the reverse, identified and titled in Cyrillic on a label from an unidentified Combine in Russia affixed to the stretcher. Oil on canvas, 34 3/4 x 27 in. (88.2 x 68.6 cm), framed. Condition: Lifting and losses primarily to l.l. quadrant, minor craquelure. Estimate $2,500-3,500 The largest loss is about 1 inch and is in the purple dress of the seated woman. Most losses are smaller (see images with ruler). The framed measures 42 x 34 1/4 x 2 in.
