Roath Sterling Silver Open-face Watch, Norwich, Connecticut, no. 6936, c. 1830, roman numeral dial with running seconds, and blued-steel hands, swing-out, chain fusee movement marked as above with dust cover; sold with an Elgin 17-jewel G.M. Wheeler open-face watch in a gold-filled case. Literature: According to Clockmakers and Watchmakers of America, by Spittlers & Bailey, Roath was a manufacturer of "everpointed" pencil cases and window springs; and a dealer in watches.
