WARRANTED," with a small brass plaque: "CAPTURED FROM A CONFEDERATE/SHARPSHOOTER NEAR WILMINGTON, N.C./JANUARY, 1865. & PRESENTED TO/CAPTAIN WILLIAM H. PIERPONT/CO. D, 7TH CONN. VOLS.," barrel lg. 24, overall lg. 39 1/2 in. Estimate $400-600 Some dings and nicks in the stock, and the lock functions but would need some work to function properly.
