Rare Colt . 45-.22 Government Model Conversion Unit with Original Box, Instructions, and Test Target, 1940, .45 ACP, serial number U103, complete with slide, barrel, barrel bushing, magazine, recoil spring, guide and plug, and slide stop; the slide is marked on the top in front of the sight with the serial number "U103," the lower left side of the barrel is marked "MATCH/COLT 45 AUTO" and the lug is marked "MB" within a circle; the box has four fitted compartments to hold each element of the unit and has a handwritten serial number on the inside of the lid matching the slide; box includes original tissue wrapping paper for the parts, original instruction sheet, and a test target serial numbered to the slide, barrel lg. 5 in. Note: This conversion unit was made to convert the Service Model Ace pistol to a .45 ACP pistol. Only 112 of these units were produced between 1938 and 1942. Estimate $2,000-3,000 Blueing is 100% and unit appears virtually unfired, box has some splitting at the corners. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
