Gregory Crewdson (American, b. 1962) Untitled, from the series Natural Wonder, 1990s. Unsigned. Chromogenic print on Kodak paper, image size 36 7/8 x 45 3/4 in. (93.7 x 116.2 cm), sheet size 40 3/4 x 49 3/4 in. (103.5 x 126.4 cm), unmatted, unframed. Condition: Minor curling, handling creases. N.B. With his carefully crafted dioramas and penchant for the uncanny, Gregory Crewdson's Natural Wonder series challenges the monotony of the American suburb. In the present work, an unsightly leg resting atop a smattering of bones stands in sharp contrast to the surrounding cheerfully vibrant butterflies and flowers. The image's ambiguity is characteristic of Crewdson's artistic output. His photography incites more questions than answers, perhaps most significantly, "what happened?," "what's happening?," and "what will happen next?" Estimate $1,500-2,000 There are no other issues to report. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
