John Piper (British, 1903-1992) Portland Bill Signed "John Piper" l. r., titled on the reverse, inscribed indistinctly "L.T.U. ..." on the reverse. Mixed media including ink and gouache on paper, 16 1/2 x 21 7/8 in. (42.0 x 55.5 cm), framed. Condition: Hinged to backing near upper corners on the reverse, tape to edges (applied prior to paint), edges unevenly trimmed, adhesive residue near left and right edges, gentle rippling, scattered handling creases, tear upper center (partially repaired with tape to the reverse), scattered small nicks and tears to edges, scattered tack holes near edges, tape remnants to the reverse. Provenance: Purchased directly from the artist, 1954; by descent to the current private collection, Massachusetts. Estimate $8,000-10,000 There are no further issues to report.
