Massimo Nordio (Italian, b. 1947) Covered Box Art Glass Sculpture, Venice, Italy, c. 1990, blown glass canes, cut finish, ht. 6 1/4, dia. 3 7/8 in. Note: Nordio is a trained cinematographer and photographer. He was hired in 1980 to produce a series of definitive monographs on important modern glass artists from Murano which inspired him to design his own pieces. In the early 1990s, he began his career as a studio art glassmaker. Nordio has collaborated in workshops at Pilchuck, Niijima, and Murano Centro Studio Vetro. Estimate $200-400 lid is with a chip, finial with large open air bubble, and the body is with scattered small open air bubbles. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
