Sherri Smith Athena Tapestry, Ann Arbor, Michigan, 1979, cotton webbing, ht. 96, wd. 132 in. Note: After earning her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art, Smith worked as a textile designer in New York City for Dorothy Liebes and Boris Kroll Fabrics, where she designed jacquard woven textiles for interiors. She has taught at the University of Michigan School of Art and Design since 1974. Estimate $100-300 In need of conservation. Some of the canvas strips from which the piece is constructed are coming unwoven along the edges. The integrity of the piece is intact, just needs some re-weaving to secure the outer edge.
