Three Papua New Guinea Lime Spatulas, Massim, Trobriand Islands, late 19th century, made from palm wood, two with anthropomorphic crouching figures atop the long blades, the third from Adzera, Markham valley, with carved interlocking triangular motifs, each with metal stand, lg. 15 1/4, 12 3/4, and 14 1/4 in. Provenance: The shorter figurative spatula from the collection of Marcia and John Friede, Rye, New York; the remaining two from the Faith Dorian-Wright collection.
