Clara Marsh's Schoolwork Book, Sturbridge, Massachusetts, c. 1804-06, the frontispiece inscribed multiple times in pen and ink "Clara Marsh's Book of Sturbridge," and dated "December 28, 1804," the left front page with a watercolor drawing of fruit and foliage, and the rest of the book filled with idioms, poems, and other penmanship exercises, (imperfections to edges of paper and covers, foxing, staining, some ink bleed-through and transfer), each page 8 x 6 in., housed in an archival box. Note: Clara Marsh's father was Silas Marsh, a soldier in the Revolutionary War. The Marsh family was descended from John Marsh, who arrived to Boston from Birmingham, England, in 1660.
