Small Federal Mahogany and Mahogany Veneer Inlaid Sideboard, possibly Rhode Island, c. 1795-1810, the serpentine top with crossbanded edge above a conforming case of six drawers, some with multi-drawer facades, and a slider above central cupboard doors flanked by concave panels bordered by diagonal checkered banding, all resting on six legs, four inlaid with husks, replaced brasses, refinished, ht. 40 1/2, wd. 56 3/4, dp, 24 3/4 in. Estimate $3,000-5,000 brasses replaced, shrinkage crack in top, minor veneer and inlay losses. Bottom board painted on underside, with shrinkage cracks and added strips of wood to account for shrinkage at front edge. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
