Chippendale Carved Cherry Oxbow Serpentine Slant-lid Desk, Massachusetts, c. 1760-80, with interior of nine drawers and seven compartments, cockbeaded case on claw-and-ball feet, ht. 44 3/4, wd. 40 1/2, dp. 20 in. Estimate $1,500-2,500 The surface is older and pretty dry. There are some moisture stains and other imperfections to the writing surface and the top board of the desk itself. There is also a shrinkage separation between two boards on the left side. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
