Benjamin Bell Basket-top Pull Quarter-repeat Ebonized Timepiece, London, late 17th century, carrying handle above the single repoussé basket, hinged front and rear case doors, and side viewing ports, 6-in. square dial with applied silvered roman numeral chapter ring with half-hour markings, matted center, ringed winding hole, and pierced blued hands, six-pillar, eight-day, fusee pull quarter repeat on demand on two bells with verge escapement, and internal rack, fully engraved back plate marked "Benjamin Bell/London," all resting on four square bun feet, ht. 14 in. with handle extended. Estimate $4,000-6,000 Over all nice/clean condition. The two pieces of molding are off but present. both bells appear to be replacements, dial foot with screw repair, UPDATE 10-20 pull repeat currently functioning but will need adjustment as it does not sequence properly.
