Carl Oscar Borg (Swedish/American, 1879-1947) Canyon de Chelly, Arizona Unsigned. Watercolor and gouache on Whatman watercolor board, 19 x 29 in. (48.2 x 73.7 cm), framed. Condition: Toning, scattered stains, creases and nicks to edges. N.B. Borg was a Swedish-born painter who settled in the United States and became well known for views of California, Arizona, and New Mexico. He was a member of the National Academy of Design, the National Academy of Arts, Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, and the Salmagundi Club. His work is exhibited in numerous major public institutions including the Smithsonian. He visited Canyon de Chelly a number of times during his career and the works he made there are some of his best and the most sought after. Estimate $2,000-3,000 Frame dimensions: 23 3/4 x 33 3/4 x 2 in. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
